Cormorants—the majestic black sea birds that, along with the breathtaking La Jolla bluffs, provided the inspiration for this truly unique seaside experience—can be seen in their natural habitat just steps from our hotel, and the gorgeous La Jolla bluffs are a cormorant-watching paradise.

The Cormorant’s design reflects a combination of classic midcentury modern along with art deco-style touches. Our guest rooms feature an urban nautical feel, with built-in furniture, carpet inspired by abstracted barnacles, precise sand-colored woodwork, and fresh colors inspired by sand, sea, and stunning skies. The aesthetic is made complete with cormorant-inspired art specially created to pay homage to these magnificent birds.
